About Us

Objectives:

  • Create an informed electorate by promoting political education and training.

  • Increase the effectiveness of members in selecting and electing Republican candidates.

  • Promote Republican Party principles, ideals, and objectives.

  • Provide information to members that may be of interest to them.

How We Accomplish Our Objectives:

  • OCRM hosts monthly meetings with the exception of summer months.  We meet at 6:00 pm at the Lighthouse Event Center, allowing time for fellowship to get to know other members, government officials, and other community leaders. The meeting/dinner starts at 6:30 pm. Our meetings are open to the public, but all are required to RSVP and cover the price of their meal (~ $ 25).

  • We secure exceptional speakers for these meetings with the purpose to inform, educate, and identify possibilities in which men and women can become engaged in the cause of making our government better.

  • We partner with the Oconee County Republican Women in several joint events and projects. Our combined membership exceeds 200 active members.

  • We also partner with other Republican organizations, participating in diverse activities including legislative efforts, campaigns and conventions.

Why We Began OCRM:

Many citizens of our county are concerned with trends that are threatening to dismantle America as we know it.  We are being buried in debt.  Capitalism, which has improved the standard of living for our citizens and made America the envy of the world, is being slowly dismantled.  Many of our personal freedoms are being infringed upon.  Progressive movements such as defunding of police and the appointing of woke judges and prosecutors have exacerbated crime in many communities.  We could NOT idly stand by and allow this to happen in Oconee County.  Political leadership and sound policies begin at home.  We want to grow the number of Republican voters, attract the best of them to run for national, state and local office, and inform and encourage our citizens to get involved in the political process and to vote.

We Believe That:

  • We are one nation under GOD.

  • Our country is exceptional.

  • The constitution should be honored, valued, and upheld.

  • Our leaders should serve people, not special interests.

  • Families and communities should be strong and free from government intrusion.

  • The institution of traditional marriage is the foundation of society.

  • Our government should be smaller, smarter and more efficient.

  • Health care decisions should be made by us and our doctors.

  • Our tax dollars should not be wasted on poorly run government programs.

  • Our military must be strong and prepared to defend our shores.

  • Our culture must respect and protect life.

  • Children should never be left in failing schools.

  • Veterans should have the best care and opportunities in the world.

  • Social programs should help lift people out of poverty.

  • America should be energy independent.
